Watching an old friend die slowly ...

October 5, 2013

With all due respect to the friends who are still working their asses off, trying to make the best of a bad situation and feed their families while continuing to fight the good fight, this is just plain painful to see.

We've gone from custom graphics, tailored for a publication and its coverage area, to a screen shot — already a good 8 hours out of date by the time most folks wake up and check the paper — from the National Hurricane Center website.

This is not how it's supposed to be done.

I've said this before, and I know I'll say it again. One of the most striking differences between traveling through European airports is the silence.
